Portrait drawing is rewarding. Whether it is for a special gift or meant as a keepsake, I am impacted by each portrait that I create. A drawing says more than a photo can. Do you have a certain style, colour or feeling in mind for the drawing? I will listen closely to achieve a portrait that will fit your ideas perfectly of the person being drawn. There are many possibilities: classic and timeless black and white or with a modern colour accent added, a drawing in warm sepia brown or in full colour. And if you find it hard to choose which style suits you, than I am always ready to advise you.
For the B/W and sepia drawings I use colorfast deepblack en brown Conté chalk and pencils, on 300 grams acid-free watercolor paper. It is possible, therefore, to achieve deeper blacks and browns than when using charcoal or graphite. Furthermore, the durability is much higher because pigments are colorfast and will not blur. For a color drawing I use Conte chalk in combination with Pan Pastels on special pastelpaper. All drawings, once completed are sprayed with a special fixative spray to preserve it.
With our in-house frameshop, framing is also a service we can deliver. You can choose from our online selection available and have everything straight off completed online and matching. Note that framed art work is packaged in a sturdy wooden box for delivery, and as a special offer shipping is included troughout Europe.
Because my way of working is to use photos as reference it will not be necessary to pose for long periods of time. You simply deliver a photo by mail or allow me to take a photo in my studio, and I can begin the process of creating a portrait drawing. The choice on how to proceed with the request is up to you. You can very easily start your request online using the Contact Page or, if you wish to, personally drop by the studio at our house. After it is clear what you are looking for, including special wishes, delivery time and pricing is agreed on, I will start with the actual drawing. A deposit of 20% will be asked to accept your assignment, payment of the remaining amount takes place after your approval of the completed artwork.
When the drawing has been completed, you will receive an email with the photo of the completed work. At this time you can still request some adjustments to the drawing, if required. You can also drop by to view the actual results. Payment is required on your approval, and the drawing will then be packaged sturdily between two wooden boards and delivered (for all shippingcosts see faq-page). An appointment to pick up the item is also possible.
